The Tahoma School Board will interview search firms to potentially contract with in its search for a new Tahoma School District superintendent. The board has identified 5 firms to interview in public special meetings on Wednesday, Oct. 18 and Thursday, Oct. 19. The links to watch the live streamed public meetings will be made available on BoardDocs prior to each meeting.
The firms who will be interviewed are:
At a Sept. 19, 2023 work study, the board asked District Human Resources (HR) to explore search firms, complete a paper screening of the firms, and report the screening scores back to the board. HR led an initial exploration of available firms, and brought 10 firms to a larger group for screening. HR, along with District office staff, representatives from District labor partners, and parent representatives from PTA/PTO leadership scored 7 of the 10 firms. Those scores were delivered to the school board ahead of an Oct. 10 work study, where the screening process was discussed. During a regular meeting, also on Oct. 10, the board unanimously voted to interview the 5 firms.
The board currently has a special meeting scheduled for Monday, Oct. 23, where they may choose to select a search firm to support the superintendent hiring process. The board may also decide to conduct additional interviews before selecting a firm.
If the board contracts with a search firm, they plan to meet with the firm in a public work study to discuss next steps for community engagement, recruitment and interviewing.
