2022-23 Calendar Available NOW
Posted on 07/25/2022

The 2022-23 school year calendar has been finalized and can be viewed HERE.

Here are 5 things to know about this year’s calendar:

1.
Early release Fridays are 120-minute early releases (change from 90 minutes in 2021-22)

This change is to expand valuable collaborative time for teachers to understand and better address student challenges, strengthen instructional practice and share ideas with colleagues, and ultimately, improve outcomes for all students. We anticipate that expanding teacher collaboration will support our goals of holding high expectations for all students and ensuring equitable learning in classrooms. Note: we will continue offering lunch on early release Fridays.

2.
School Hours (adding 10 min. of instructional time each day)

Because early release Fridays now end 30 minutes earlier, our school day is extending by 10 minutes to provide the required instructional time. Here are the start/dismissal times for each school during a regular M-T school day:

Glacier Park – 8:40-3:20
Lake Wilderness – 8:40-3:20
Shadow Lake – 8:40-3:20
Cedar River – 9:10-3:50
Rock Creek – 9:10-3:50
Tahoma Elementary – 9:10-3:50
Middle Schools – 8:00-2:40
Tahoma High School – 7:35-2:15
(Early release Fridays let out 2 hours earlier)

3. Last day of school is Wednesday, June 21

A “calendar highlights” document on our website showed the last day as Friday, June 16. Because two teacher professional learning workshop days have since been added to the calendar (Friday, Oct. 14 and Monday, March 20), we must add two instructional days on June 20 and 21 (no school on Monday, June 19 for the Juneteenth holiday).

4. Elementary conferences are Jan. 26, 27, 30 and 31

Elementary schools on these days release 3 hours early except Friday 1/27:
Thursday, Jan 26: 3-hour early release
Friday, Jan 27: 2-hour early release
Monday, Jan 30: 3-hour early release
Tuesday, Jan 31: 3-hour early release

5. Green Days at Tahoma High School are Nov. 4 and May 25

Green days at the high school are days that are not part of the period 1-8 blue/gold rotation. Instead, all high school students participate in a variety of Future Ready activities. Please note that on Nov. 4 (the first semester THS Green Day) Future Ready activities for 11th grade students include post-high school education and training visits and the Seattle National College Fair at the convention center.
