⬜  Congratulations, THS SAMHA club!

We are excited to share that the THS SAMHA Club was the recipient of the MLK Jr. Award for King County! Council Member Reagan Dunn selected the club after visiting the National Fact Week earlier this school year. He was so impressed with what the club was doing for their peers, he decided to honor them with the award. Three of the club’s leaders went to King County Courthouse today to receive the award. We are so proud of our students! You are doing amazing work furthering the awareness for mental health and substance abuse prevention. Congratulations!

⬜  Special Olympics

After 2 years of state level competitions put on hold due to COVID, our Tahoma Bear Special Olympians are ready for a weekend filled with fun and excitement. The 2022 Special Olympics State Spring Games will host more than 1,800 athletes, 15 of which will be our very own Tahoma Bears! They will compete in Athletics (Track and Field) on  Saturday June 18th and Sunday June 19th at Pacific Lutheran University 12180 Park Ave S. Tacoma, WA 98447. You are all invited to come out and cheer them on. Look for our white canopy with Tahoma Bears Banner.

⬜  Juneteenth 2022

Juneteenth is honored on June 19, after the school year officially ends, but Tahoma celebrates the commemoration of the emancipation proclamation being enforced in Texas in 1865. President Biden signed this national holiday on June 17, 2021.

Tahoma School District buildings will be closed for the Juneteenth national holiday.

Summer Chromebook Information

We are not collecting Chromebooks from students grades 6-11 who are returning to the Tahoma School District in the fall. Students and families should review the Summer Chromebook Care and Responsibility document, which includes an FAQ for families.

Students who are withdrawing from the district should return their device(s) on the last day of school. If you withdraw your student from TSD during summer, please contact Tahoma’s Technology Help Desk at (425) 413-3230 to arrange a drop-off.

⬜  Extended Enrichment Program (EEP) Registration for 2022-23

Extended Enrichment Program (EEP) registration for the 2022-23 school year is now open! EEP is Tahoma School District’s before and after school care program for grades K-5, and is hosted at each of our elementary schools. For more information about EEP and the link to register, click here.

⬜  Register your child for Kindergarten!

Do you have a child who will be turning age 5 on or before August 31, 2022? If so, now is the time to make sure your child is registered for kindergarten for the 2022-23 school year. Enrollment is now available exclusively online, and detailed instructions can be found HERE on our website.

It’s important to register as soon as possible, since your child’s school will be reaching out soon to make appointments for their incoming kindergartener events in May and June. More information about these events can be found HERE.

 Bear Metal Robotics Summer Camps

Bear Metal Robotics Summer Camps are back! This year, there are 10 camps over 6 weeks for grades K-8. In addition to their traditional robotics camp (9 years running) in which kids design and build robots in small teams and then compete against other teams on the last day, there are a variety of new STEM camps covering Lego robotics, electronics, fabrication, design and more. Camps are designed and run by Tahoma Bear Metal Robotics high school team members and alumni, and are held at THS.

Trying to figure out which camps are right for your student? Check out this spreadsheet which includes descriptions and links to all sign ups.
