Working to provide history lessons and curriculum that include multiple perspectives. An example is to provide stories from the Native American perspective as well as the white explorer perspective. We strive to provide books that show different types of people in positive ways. Treating students as individuals. Students who are in special education receive individualized instruction to support their learning needs. Students who are highly capable receive enrichment. We strive to make learning meaningful and relevant for all students, which means we may provide choices in reading and writing activities. Working to improve our school climate so that all students feel a sense of belonging. Listening to our students to hear about their experiences in our schools, and using that information to make our schools safe and welcoming for all students. Teaching our staff to be aware of implicit bias, microaggressions and stereotype threat. Grading based on merit and student progress.
