Thank you, voters

Please see the letter below from Tahoma School Board President, Michael Wiggins:

April 25, 2024

The Tahoma School Board wants to extend sincere appreciation to everyone who made their voice heard and voted on the Educational Programs & Operations Levy in the April 23 election. As of now, the levy proposition is passing at 55.14% with many votes left to be counted. These important levy dollars will continue closing the gap between state funding and our cost of running the valuable educational and extracurricular programs that our students and families love. Thank you!

As we look ahead, we fully recognize that the important work of upholding our promise as good stewards of your investment is never complete. We are grateful for our community's support, and we know you have high expectations for us to meet moving forward. We have a responsibility to be thoughtful with our community’s dollars, use those funds to provide a high quality education for students, and always seek opportunities to be more efficient with our spending. In short, the “yes” vote is not the finish line in our work, but is an important benchmark in our path for continuous improvement.

We also believe this new levy cycle aligns well with the start of our new superintendent’s tenure. With full funding in place for next school year, Dr. Callison is able to direct her focus on improving student outcomes and building healthy community partnerships. She, our board and district staff are excited to partner with you in finding opportunities for growth, and to get valuable input on our budget and district priorities.

Thank you for your continued partnership, and for your continued support of Tahoma students.

Michael Wiggins
Tahoma School Board President
