Posted on 06/21/2024

As we approach summer break, we want to make sure your family has the resources you need to ensure your child has access to nutritious meals while school is out. There are many school district, community, state and federal resources available to your family:

Maple Valley Food Bank & Emergency Services

The Maple Valley Food Bank (MVFB) is a grocery store-style food bank that provides both fresh and non-perishable food items for members of the community. There are no financial restrictions on who may use the food bank. The food bank is located at 21415 Renton-Maple Vly Rd, Maple Valley, WA 98038. The food bank is open on Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m (or by appointment). More information can be found at: https://www.maplevalleyfoodbank.org/get-help/

Clients of the Maple Valley Food Bank (MVFB) who have children in the Tahoma School District may also be eligible for the MVFB Back to School Backpack Program, which helps provide school supplies for children in our community. To be eligible, families must be clients of the MVFB. Inquire about the Backpack Program at your next visit to MVFB.

Free/Reduced-Price Meals Form Changing Name to CNEEB Application

If your student currently receives Free/Reduced-Price Meals through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), you must reapply each year to remain eligible for free or reduced-price meals. The Free/Reduced-Price Meal Application is changing names beginning next school year. The new application will be called the Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit (CNEEB) Application. The new application will be available in Skyward on August 1, and paper copies will be available in school offices starting in early August. Please be on the lookout for more information about the CNEEB Application this summer.
